■ For the latest version of SuperSonic and for information about
SuperSonic Pro, please visit our internet home page at:
http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/mortonsoftware
■ Currently, SuperSonic includes sound drivers for the following
sound cards and compatibles:
* SoundBlaster /2.00/2.01/Pro/16/Awe32
* ProAudio Spectrum /Plus/16
* Windows Sound System 1.x/2.x
* ESS 688 Audiodrive Chipset
90% of sound cards on the market are compatible with one or
more of these drivers. For example, the Ensoniq Soundscape is
compatible with both the SoundBlaster and the Windows Sound
System. At the date of this release, we're working on drivers
for the following sound cards:
* Gravis UltraSound/Max
* Roland Rap-10
* Digital Audio Labs CardD/CardD+
If your sound card isn't supported in this release, please
visit our internet home page for the latest release.
■ If your sound card is BOTH SoundBlaster and Windows Sound
System compatible such as the Ensoniq Soundscape, Reveal
sound cards, and lots of others, we recommend that you use
one of the Windows Sound System drivers. Most likely, mixer
support will be present only in Windows Sound System mode.
You may need to specifically select Windows Sound System
mode using a utility provided with your sound card. Consult
your sound card manual for more information. If you decide
to use one of the SoundBlaster drivers, see next note below.
■ If your sound card isn't a true SoundBlaster but it is
SoundBlaster compatible and you select one of the SoundBlaster
drivers, the mixer device may not work. (Some SoundBlaster
compatible cards have a unique mixer.) If this is the case,
you'll need to use the mixer program that came with your sound
card for adjusting volume levels. (Windows 95 users can use
the Multimedia / Volume Control program.) Before executing
SuperSonic, be sure to set recording volume levels for the Cd,
External, and Microphone channels at their maximum setting so
that SuperSonic can record/monitor these audio sources. Also,
be sure to select one or more of these channels for recording
mode. (Windows 95 users can run the Volume Control program
located in the Multimedia menu. Select Properties from the
Options menu. Select Adjust Volume for Recording and press
OK. Click on Select for the Cd, External, and Microphone
channels and set their levels at maximum.)
■ Windows 3.x users must exit Windows before running SuperSonic.
■ Windows 95 users, please note: You shouldn't experience any
problems when executing SuperSonic from Windows 95. However,
if you do, try restarting your computer in DOS mode and then
executing SuperSonic. This may help you isolate the problem.
■ SuperSonic has context sensitive help! Press and HOLD DOWN
the right mouse button on any button/slider/display and
detailed information will display until you RELEASE the
right mouse button.
■ All of SuperSonic's support programs also include context
sensitive help. Press F1 at any time and you'll get detailed
information about the currently selected option.
■ SuperSonic currently has a total of eight distinct rack mount
devices. However, only 4 or 5 can fit on screen at one time.
Therefore, to scroll the display up or down, use the device
up/dn arrow keys located on the left of each device.
■ SuperSonic is extremely customizable. All devices can be
repainted and resized to your liking. All displays, buttons,
sliders, etc. within a device can be resized, repositioned,
and repainted. You can also create custom 256 color cursors.
See Appendix B - Advanced Information.
■ If you've got any great ideas of new devices and/or features
you would like to see us add, please call or write us. See
program manual cover for our phone number, postal mail, and
email addresses.
■ SuperSonic Pro is coming soon!!! It will include some very
powerful features for audio professionals:
* Disc Jockey System: Allows an unlimited number of items
to be queue'd for playback. Items can include cd tracks,
samples and external audio sources such as tape players,
cd changers, voice, live band, satellite feeds, etc. A
variety of switches can be placed between items (eg. fade
out old while fade in new). Powerful queue controls will
allow queue's to be created, saved, loaded, and inserted
into an existing queue. Manual switches between queue
items will also be supported plus queue logging and
recording of manual switch times for a perfect playback
of a previous d.j. session. This system will provide a
powerful software based alternative to small radio stations,
professional and home disc jockeys.
* Calibrated spectrum/peak analyzers with all of the features
found on professional rack-mount analyzers, plus lots more.
Select standard 1/3, 1/2, 2/3 octave band split or create
your own by specifying number of bands and individual band
frequency range. Specify octave or band gain level. View
realtime dB level (and other information) for any or all
bands. Save and load up to 12 of your favorite band setups.
That's all! We hope you like SuperSonic and we're interested in
your comments, suggestions and criticisms!
